How to Pick a Window Tint Shade for your Vehicle
Choosing the right shade and window film for your car is important because automotive tinting can be expensive and not easily removed. Once it’s on your car, you’re stuck with the window tint until you pay for it to be remove, so be sure it’s the shade you want. Take your time and follow these steps when you pick a window tint shade.
Things to Consider
Choose a colored window tint if you want to go for the fancy look. Sun Shield Window Tint can customize your window tinting shade to match your car. Consider the color of your vehicle’s interior and exterior as those two items effect the appears the window tinting film. Dark interiors and exteriors will make the window tinting film appear darker than light interiors and exteriors.
Pick a dark window tinting shade to maximum privacy. Remember the darker the window tint the more light it blocks(not heat). Caution limo window tinting (05%) may obstruct your night vision.
Always select a car window tinting shade that is legal. Police don’t hesitate to give tickets for window tint that’s too dark. Tints, like limousine tint, in the front windows of your automotive . A Sun Shield Window Tint representative can tell you if the shade you want is legal in your area.
Get a strip on the top of your windshield that matches the tint on the rest of the car. This strip works like a sunshade to keep the sun out of your eyes while driving, and it also has a sporty look to it.

Once the window film has been installed, it’s very common to see a slight haziness and/or small water ripples/pockets. This is a normal part of the adhesive bonding process called “curing”. You shouldn’t roll your windows down for at least 48 hrs depending on the weather conditions. Although the weather is a factor in the curing process it doesn’t impact the installation process nor does it interefere with it. The curing process is slow because the moisture between the film and glass must evaporate through the film after the installation is completed.
Care and Maintenance
The window film should not be clean or touch during the “curing” progress, once the film is dry and cured, it’s then safe for the film to be cleaned and the windows can be safely rolled down. The best cleaner is a damp towel and a dry towel. You may also clean the film surface with any normal strength glass cleaner. Products with amonia will not damage the film however caution should be used, if used in an unreasonable quantity or if the film is left to soak in it the amonia will cause the life expectancy of the film to decrease.
Don’t Roll your windows down for the next 48 hours
Don’t use any abrasive cleaners, industrial strength glass cleaners and/or any other window cleaning tools that may scratch the window film. Remember the surface of the film is coated with a scratch resistant it’s not scratch proof coating.

What is causing my window tint to streak and scratch?
All car doors have a weather strip seals on either side of the window glass. These weather-strips touch the window creating a seal to help keep dirt, water and noise from entering your door panel and vehicle. After taking a close look, you should notice the inside seal has a fuzzy layer of felt applied to it.
This is true for most vehicles, however certain makes and models don’t have a felt layer on the window canal of the door. Their manufacturers neglected to put this felt on the inside seal of the window. This inside window seal is made of hard plastic. With no felt applied to it, this hard weather strip will start to collect dirt and dust which in turn rubs against your vertical lines and scratches.
Streaks & Scratches
This looks cosmetically bad and it destroys the window film causing you to have to return to the tint shop and re-tint the car all over again. Fortunately there is a solution to this problem, simply install the felt layer on your window canal, Call us today (281) 748 – 5660 and we can order a strip of felt specifically for your vehicle or order here.
Before you get your auto tinted, find out if your vehicle is one of those whose manufacturer neglected to put this felt on the inside seal of the window. You can contact Sun Shield Window Tint and one of our representative can help you answer this question and others you may have. Also remember you can virtually tint your vehicle here
